HOW DO WE MEDITATE
I started with the series MEDITATION on Monday and I talked about what Christian meditation is and also why do we meditate, so today I will continue with the series.
WHAT DO YOU MEDITATE ON
As Christians we should meditate on God's word, His precepts, His statutes, His wonderful works(psalms 119:15).
We are to consider, to ponder, take into account, compute, speak and to put into practice God's word.
Meditation on God's word will reveal the direction we ought to take in life. See, the word of God is the voice of God and you can't hear the still small voice unless you train your ears to hear God. As you stay fixed on the word of God, you will hear the voice of God and you will know what you ought to do and you will be guided.
HOW DO WE MEDITATE
There are no rules /formulas when it comes to meditation ,it is just simply about being still with God, Coming to meet Him and spending time with God. It is all about focusing on God and His presence.
Meditation is for everyone who desires a
relationship with God, meditation begins with thinking on scriptures. We have truly meditated when we slowly read, prayerfully absorb and humbly rely on what has been revealed to us in His word.
It is being attentive to God, it is a part of the process by which the word of God penetrates the soul and spirit.
Another thing to note is that meditation can be done anywhere but it is advisable to find a quiet spot free of distractions.
It can even be in your room, you can set aside a place just as seen in the movie 'War room' .I believe you have seen the movie. In meditation, you set your mind on things of Christ (Romans 8:6).
Note that meditation is not folding your arms, leaning back in your chair and staring at your ceiling, rather you focus your thoughts, you give your attention to the verse, phrase, word or teachings of scriptures.
There is a need to quiet your heart and more so pray over the readings. The aim of meditation is not to empty the mind off thoughts but rather to simply let those thoughts pass by and return your attention to God .
Thank you for following through today, see you tomorrow.
