One of the ways I have come to realize in the process of reviving ones relationship with God is one's intentionality. Are you really intentional about it,what and what are you doing to get back? It is one thing to desire it and it's another thing to work it out. You want to revive your relationship with God? Fine,but  on the scale of 1- 100, what's your INTENTIONALITY level?   When the purpose of a thing is not known, abuse is inevitable. In the quest to reviving your relationship with God,there should be a clear purpose driving you. What is the purpose of having a relationship with God? Do you even see and know the need of being in a relationship with God? One of the things I have come to understand is,if you have not come to the place of knowing,then little or nothing can be done to avert a change. Why do you want to have a relationship with God? Is it because of gains, what if he doesn't give you all that, would you still remain in that relationship? Being in a relationship with God is much more than what you can envisage.  And so being in a relationship with  God is important because He is your Father.
