WHY DO WE MEDITATE

Hi friends, today I will continue on the topic Christian meditation.

WHY DO WE MEDITATE

1. Meditate to focus : (Psalms 119:15)
One of the tools the enemy uses to take our eyes off Christ and to keep us from hearing God clearly in His word is DISTRACTIONS.  As humans with many pursuits, aspirations, goals,  we are greatly helped by meditation which leads us to fix our eyes on the Lord and tune out distractions. It refocuses us from ourselves and from the world so that we reflect on God's word, His nature, abilities and works.

2. Meditate to understand :( Psalms 119:27)
When we meditate on
the word of God, we seek to understand how the God of the universe is speaking, about Himself, about our world, about our own hearts. We meditate to understand what God is communicating to us through His word.

3. Meditate to remember  and worship :(Psalms 143:5)
When we meditate, we do so to remember all that God has done in His great redemption story and how He sent Christ to save a people from sin.
We ponder the work of God's hand. Meditate to remember also brings us to ponder all that God has done in our lives, how He saved us, what opportunities He has given to us, the second and the several chances we received.

We meditate to worship and express to Him thanksgiving and adoration. We will learn to love God more, one will be aware of the things He has done and this allow us to enjoy the smallest and simplest blessings that comes our way.

4. Meditate to apply :( Joshua 1:8)
We are able to understand how to apply God's word to our lives. In applying what we read,  we ask : ' what do I need to do? '

5. It guides us in our everyday life. (1Timothy 4:15)

WHAT DO YOU MEDITATE ON

Christian meditation is rooted in the bible (Joshua 1:8)
One important thing the Bible tells us to do is to think about God's word. Our thoughts determines our behavior and so what we think about is very important. That is why God wants  us to think about His word, meditate on it.You select a verse and reflect on it over and over. If you know how to worry, you already know how to meditate.

No other habit can do more to transform your life than daily reflection on scriptures.

See you tomorrow for the continuation of the series. God bless you.
