HE IS RISEN

Today is Easter Sunday and I want to emphasize the importance of the resurrection of Christ to our Christian Faith.
Easter means the resurrection of Jesus from the dead! It means the promise of life after death!
It means hope of a better life. It means joy.
The resurrection of Jesus is the basis of our faith.

If Jesus didn’t rise from the dead then we’re just wasting our time here.
The words, “He is not here, but He is risen”, changed the course of history! And they continue to do so. Let us take a look at why the resurrection is so important to us.
Easter means victory. Victory over death, hell and the grave.

So why is Easter the most important time of the Christian faith?
1. We know that The God we serve is alive.
I am the living one. I died, but look—I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and the grave. Revelation 1:18 NLT
Easter is such an important celebration for Christians because we know that we serve a God that is alive. We don’t serve dead gods made by man. Our God is not made of wood, clay, silver or gold. Our God is the one who created the entire universe and all that is in it.
2. Our God is true.
But the Lord is the only true God. He is the living God and the everlasting King! Jeremiah 10:10a NLT
The resurrection proved that our God is true. He is true and His word is true. Everything He said concerning the birth, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ has been fulfilled. So we KNOW that everything written in His word concerning Christ’s return WILL come to pass.
We are assured that we serve The True God. He cannot lie!
3. Our Salvation is Sure.
And if Christ has not been raised, then your faith is useless and you are still guilty of your sins. In that case, all who have died believing in Christ are lost! Romans 15:17-18 NLT
Christ’s resurrection has ensured our salvation. If He had remained dead he wouldn’t have been able to save us from sin and death. But He is alive! Hallelujah! So our salvation is sure and we are saved and safe in Him.
4. We have eternal life.
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23 NLT
By His death and resurrection we now have eternal life. He took our death, nailed it to the cross and arose a conqueror over death for us. Then He gave us His life, eternal life. The very life of God is what every believer enjoys. Hallelujah!
5. We have victory over sin.
He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness.
1 Peter 2:24 NLT
. When we invite Jesus Christ into our lives we are able to stand before God spotless, just as if we had never sinned
We have died to sin. In Christ we can look sin in the face and refuse it. Yes, we will be tempted but Christ destroyed its power over us when He died. He conquered sin and death by His resurrection so sin no longer has dominion over us.
Let me tell you that no matter how far you have strayed from God. No matter how long you have been on that wayward path, on that broad road, it is not too late. Because of Christ’s resurrection you can reach up from where you are today and take the hand that is reaching out to you, and you can make a comeback.
Our Savior has risen! This Easter day, the resurrection of Jesus reminds us that God makes all things new. He has given us the same resurrection power to live free from sin and death and to have a life fully ALIVE! While it's easy to forget the real reason for this holiday, let's take a moment to put aside the easter food and remember the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus and his resurrection from the grave.
Let's pray this together; Dear God,
Thank you that you make all things new. Thank you for the victory and power in your Name. Thank you that you hold the keys over death, that by your might, Jesus was raised from the grave, paving the way for us to have new life with you. Thank you that you had plan, that you made a way.
We confess our need for you…fresh…new…again. We ask that you renew our hearts, minds, and lives, for the days ahead. We pray for your refreshing over us. In Jesus name we have prayed.Amen.
